Cabin in the Woods twist ending

Cabin in the Woods is a new science fiction horror movie. The movie deals out a terrible twist ending to cheat moviegoers. If you haven't watched Cabin in the Woods yet, think twice about wasting your time. Cabin in the Woods twist ending is the worst ever.

The following movie spoiler will explain the Cabin in the Woods twist ending.

***Movie Spoiler***

Many movie critics are writing positive movie reviews on the new Cabin in the Woods movie. Even so, movie critics are giving Cabin in the Woods filmmakers credit for their stupid twist ending. In our opinion, the Cabin in the Woods twist ending is horrible. It is another dumb trick to slap moviegoers with a bad twist ending.

In the movie ending, the team celebrate their victory. Five young college students go to the cabin. Four out of five characters are presumed dead.  We think the final girl will die at the hands of a deformed zombie monster.

However, Marty rescues Dana from the deranged freak. The team stage the events, controlling the final outcome inside their headquarters. They essential goal is to feed the demand - to please the paying customers with a "Hostel 3" execution. The twist ending confuses the viewers in the moments to follow.

Cabin in the Woods twist ending conveys that nightmares and fears are deadly. The trapped nightmares/dreams are contained in transparent boxes to mock the horror genre. Thus, horror movie characters devour the team members. The Cabin in the Woods features the twist ending because the science fiction/fantasy genres intersect with the horror genre to create confusion.

Most people will eventually figure out the headquarters is located underneath the cabin. Sigourney Weaver's character is the top boss (director) that guides the sacrificial missions to please the Gods. She mentions that withholding any sacrifices will cause the Gods to rise above. As a result, the world will end.

Cabin in the Woods twist ending is plain stupid. The horror movie goes from a slasher film to a science fiction mess. Brief recap: nightmares and fears are stored in transparent containers to confuse moviegoers. Horror movie fans soon realize they can watch better movies on SyFy rather than this load of crap.

The Cabin in the Woods twist ending ends up becoming several movie genres and sub-genre: science fiction, fantasy, slasher, horror, gory, thriller, suspense, spy, and mystery. Most people think nonetheless that Dana will probably die as the final girl. Without any warning, Marty saves Dana from the Wrong Turn look-a-like monster. There are multiple twists in the movie ending.

Cabin in the Woods twist ending explains the quest to sacrifice five members that fit the mythical pattern. Hence, the sacrificial tradition has been taking place for thousands of years. The headquarter team must sacrifice five people to keep the Gods content. Therefore, the movie genre shifts to a Saw and Hostel gory horror movie.

Cabin in the Woods twist ending conveys that Marty and Dana die together to save the world. When we watched the movie, we immediately compared it to the Neverending Story execution. Cabins in the Woods is one movie that never seemed to end at the right moment.

Cabins in the Woods movie features a bad twist ending to change a rather decent horror movie concept into a disaster science fiction/fantasy movie. Assume you're watching a slasher horror movie? Figure out the twist ending is a feeble attempt to spoof the horror movie genre.

The filmmakers anticipated introducing a unique horror movie that instead delivered stupid originality. If you think this twist ending review lacks organization, then read the Cabins in the Woods screenplay. The fallen action delivers one last twist to confuse people again - Dana and Marty watch the Gods rise to end the world. In light of creating an original horror movie, the Cabin in the Woods is now identified as a movie with the worst twist ending ever.

***This twist ending review is intended to inform movie fans who seek answers. We switched between opinion and plot to explain the movie ending. Moreover, we realize that many people will disagree with our twist ending analysis and or our writing style. It is impossible to receive 100% feedback. In the future, we plan to review movie twist endings based on plot points rather than personal opinion. Thanks for your support.***

Update: After several heated discussions on the Cabin in the Woods movie, we retract our "bad" label attached to the movie. The movie is making fun of the horror movie genre. It is clever to mock viewers who want gore, slashers, torture porn, and creepy movies. Do watch Cabin in the Woods to make your own interpretation. You might like the movie. In our opinion, Cabin in the Woods misses the mark.

  1. Thanks for the comment. We already have a life. We will continue to write the truth on our 50 movie sites covering many genres.

Cabin in the Woods is a garbage movie that is stupid. Moviegoers actually pay to watch this crap. Lazy filmmaking at its worst.

  2. Considering I interpreted the concept of the Ancient Gods as US, the AUDIENCE... your review sums up why the gods needed sacrifice in a archetypal fashion and when it was not delivered... they destroyed the world for the "worst ending" ever. Which, IMHO is why it is one of the best meta endings. You've played directly into the intent.

Had it been a standard slasher flick, would your review be any different or just "oh, more of the same?"

    1. Cabin in the Woods will be known as the movie with a bad twist ending. It is a silly ending that tries to spoof horror movies.

If the movie was a slasher film instead, I would have reviewed it differently. The reality to science fiction genre ruined the movie.

Moviegoers will remember the movie ending like The Devil Inside, another bad movie ending with a terrible twist.

Since we run MoviesWithATwist.com, PlotSpoiler.com, FilmEnding.com, TheGenres.com, MovieExplanations.com,this site and dozens of other movie sites, movies such as The Devil Inside and Cabin
in the Woods make writing about twist
endings, spoilers, explanations, and several other types of analysis.

If the Cabin in the Woods wouldve taken a slasher route, I wouldn't think of it as just another slasher film. However, the science fiction and
      comedy execution ruined the movie.

Word of mouth will send this film spiraling downward. Weaver's mention of gods and sacrificing for the greater of good made this film like Scary Movie.

Cabin in the Woods is easily forgetable. Bad endings don't have the legs to keep moviegoers interested.

    2. I really loved the movie aside from the fact that Marty is a total jerk at the end. Why do Dana and Marty decide to let the world end??? Marty is this awesome, heroic character and then he throws it all out the window when he decides that rather than saving everyone he wants to let the world end. What the hell kind of person is so selfish that they would sacrifice the world for basically no reason. You're going to die either way but you decide to take everyone with you? It just seemed to me that this was an incredibly evil thing to do. Developing a character into a hero and then having them suddenly become a stupid selfish coward is just poor writing. I'm not suggesting that I could do better and I certainly won't say that you can't enjoy this movie. I just can't really enjoy a movie when characters don't stay consistent or at least have motivation for a personality change.

TLDR: I loved the concept of the entire movie but I just hated Marty's sudden decision to let the world die and believe it really went against his character.

  3. LoLs!, a friend of mine read your spoiler review and now wants to see the movie.

Anyways, I have to disagree. Cabin in the Woods isn't a garbage movie, I think that's silly to say. I didn't feel cheated by the end or its other twists! The twists were well defined and very good: The secret international govt. society, the "choosing" of the type of monster they would get (They wound up with the incest zombies), the fact that the five were not what they seemed to be(the geek was actually a philosophical new age dude, the whore was just a regular girl, the smart nerd and the athlete were just really nice good looking guys, and the virgin? She was no virgin!). And of course, the fact that they chose NOT to save the world.. was great. Screw it. It's what I would have chosen! If we have to sacrifice a series of young college students to the gods, they can all kiss my ass!

The last 15 minutes were intense, bringing us just about every horror movie villain/monster that I could think of: Clowns, aliens, werewolves, BIG snakes, even KILLER UNICORNS...HA! Pretty damn bloody there, and funny too!

Good stuff. Everyone I went to see it with loved it. As a college graduate, I could easily say this was a "stupid movie". Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Evil Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Dracula... Let's call them "stupid" too. I still had quite a bit of fun watching them, which is the point.

  4. Cabin in the Woods went from Saw to Percy Jackson. Too many genres and sub-genres are integrated into the film.

We initially assumed the movie would be about a group controlling events like a Saw movie. Then, the blood draining into a stone shaped Egyptian carving hinted to moviegoers the ridiculous nature of the movie genre.

I wanted the film to end as soon as Marty and Dana escaped the zombie. It kept going on and on. Integrating science fiction into the film destroyed the outcome. Cabin in the Wood was made to bank on the twist ending.

Bad movies like Cabin in the Woods and The Devil Inside get noticed more than good movies such as The Woman in Black and Insidious. Insidious never tricks the moviegoer with changing the genre. It is an astral horror that remains consistent throughout.

Cabin in the Woods is stuffed with too many genres and sub-genres to confuse the average moviegoer. Many will get lost in the film ending. Shifting genres compromise the execution. Moviegoers will forget about this movie.

Your friend should save their money. We watched this film in Alien country (Roswell, NM). I would have rather gone on an Alien tour than relive the Cabin in the Woods experience again. The only benefit in watching this movie is writing spoilers and explaining the movie ending. But for the most part, the movie ending shifted genres to deliver the worst twist ending ever.

I wonder...Astral, what did you think of the movie Cloverfield? I thought it mixed too much everything without adding enough monster. I thought the ending was horrible considering everything the characters had to go through.

    2. Hi Jadewa,

That's cool your friend liked the movie. There are far too many genres in Cabins in the Woods. The screenwriter tried to make the movie catchy, original and funny. In the end, the movie's poor execution becomes an original mess.

Integrating science fiction, mythology, and end of the world themes into Cabin is nonetheless confusing moviegoers. The filmmakers need the twist ending to explain the plot.

Cloverfield has a decent ending. The science fiction movie is also frustrating since we have to endure the shaky handheld camera throughout the film and an Alien invasion with no backstory.

The Colverfield movie ending is better than Cabin in the Woods. It is much more consistent with the Alien monsters, never going off course once to confuse the moviegoing public.

We have an Alien invasion. Many people are killed. The former boyfriend rescues his girlfriend from her apartment. In the movie ending, we see the best friend die. The boyfriend and girlfriend die together, leaving behind evidence of their struggle to escape the Alien invasion.

Cloverfield is better than Cabin in the Woods. They should have ended the movie with the Final Girl. The science fiction aspect was dumb. Even worse, the Gods, secret society, and end of the world totally destroyed the movie.

Cloverfield remained consistent with the genres. We don't have a bad movie ending. It compliments the catalyst, the moment the Alien invasion in the beginning setup to the fallen action with the couple dying together.

Cabin in the Woods goes from a slasher film to a movie about Gods, end of the world and science fiction. The secret society is plain dumb. As a result, the Cabin in the Woods is performing poorly in the box office, reflecting on the $60 million disaster Lionsgate invested.

The movie will need to do good in the overseas movie market to make back the production budget. These type of movies are too risky to make. It can setback a movie studio.

Good horror movies such as The Ring, The Sixth Sense, Saw, The Woman in Black make sense. The Blair Witch Project, The Last Exorcism, and Paranormal Activity killed off the main characters. They performed good in relation to their production budget and the domestic gross.

Most found footage movies leave behind evidence of a past tragedy. Cloverfield is a decent movie with an alright ending.

  5. I have to ask, why do you write like that? It lacks cohesion and it's incredibly painful to read. You move back and forth between your opinion and the plot, which would be alright if you didn't insist on repeating the same terms over and over again to the point where I'm tired of the freaking title (and now I start to tremble at the very sound of the word "moviegoers"). Maybe it's something to get hits on google, maybe you just don't know how to write, I don't know, but it's really annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Maybe because average people will still ask questions. You have to repeat things and write simple enough to get the point across.

Glad you are annoyed. We don't need Google to get hits. I own many top keyword movie sites that get ranked without even writing a sentence.

I'm not worried if you think I can't write. I take no offense to your comment. Interesting that you choose the worst movie of the past decade to leave a comment, especially since The Cabin in the Woods lacks a good plot and clear direction. It weaves in and out of the genres to confuse people.

People want to read the plot to understand personal opinions conveyed in the analysis. This is a non-fiction style that alternates between the plot and opinions.

I apologize that you don't like the writing and the analysis. 'Moviegoers' is not a high searched term. The domain name "Twist endings" delivers the majority of the traffic.

Your "maybe you just don't know how to write" opinion does little to affect me. I respect you took the time to comment on the worst horror movie disaster. A Negative comment on a disaster movie is good enough for me.

Thanks for your opinion. Boa Sorte.

  8. Interesting analysis on a very overrated film. I enjoyed it, but I don't think it's as revolutionary as some of my friends have claimed it to be. I think "The Village" has one of the worst twist endings ever. With "Signs" being a close second. Kind of ironic since "The Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable" are some of the best twist endings I've ever seen.

  9. @Johnny,

You're one of the very few to write a positive comment. We got into some conflict on TheScripted.com for calling the movie dumb and bad. On that website, it is mostly a script analysis rather than a review.

I concur that Cabin in the Woods is an overrated movie. We watched the movie while relocating. It seems people in Roswell, NM enjoyed the movie. In my opinion, (although warned ahead of time) the Greek God and the fake gore in the ending ruined the movie. I think many events prior to the ending impacted the movie.

You're right about The Sixth Sense. I agree the movie serves up one of the best twist endings. I never watched Unbreakable. However, I heard the movie is a good watch. Signs and Village have the worst twist endings ever. The Happening is anther bad twist ending.

    M. Night is known as Mr. Twist Endings. He tends to use twist endings to make spiritual movies.

    My favorite twist endings:

    The Sixth Sense
    The Game
    Seven
    The Usual Suspects
    The Others
    The Ruins

    Thanks for the comment.

  21. fuck you, this movie is so awesome and it transcends normal horror movies because it involves almost every monster imaginable instead of having one 'bad guy'. Th movie has comedy, boobs, and most of all really awesome monster scenes. Th basement scene is one of the coolest in th movie right after th scene where they show th cells containing the monsters. Th ending makes sense, th fool ended up being alive therefore th monsters arose to destroy th world. I would suggest you do not review anymore horror movies in th future, it seems that you are not a fan of th genre and instead just want to ream a movie bc you want something to blurb about on th web.. In fact this movie is one of my favorite horror movies of all time and I was raised watching almost every horror movie imaginable. I watched this in theaters and bought th DVD, well stole it, it was that good. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a movie with a good twist, unlike M Night movies with almost predictable twists at every turn, this movie transcends a normal twist ending. so shut your mouth blogger dude.. -b-Side!
